• 'Resonance' exhibition open as part of Design Week London

The London Design Festival starts today! and the Resonance exhibition, curated by Amanda Game, at Contemporary Applied Arts, 89 Southwark Street is part of the Bankside Design Districts contribution to this major event in the UKs Design calendar. Come along and see what’s happening in this vibrant area of London.

"Walk down any urban street in the UK and the most dominant material that surrounds you will be metal. Railings; gates; security fencing; signboards; lampposts; roofing materials; bridges; rail tracks; drain covers. Movement through our cities and towns is, one way and another, shaped by metal. But how often do we see contemporary work that shows real imaginative quality in guiding us through the urban realm?

Resonance highlights examples of commissioned work in UK, from the past 15 years, which demonstrate how innovative and practical design solutions informed by makers’ knowledge and curiosity about the qualities and histories of materials, in this case metal, can add new shape to civic spaces.
